Recently, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan donated $75 million to a San Francisco based General Hospital Foundation according to the reports published by the San Francisco Chronicle. In a significant recognition of the donation, the most precious gift the foundation has received since it was created in 1994; the hospital will now be named in the honor of Priscilla and Mark Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center. The money donated by Zuckerberg will go towards buying equipment and advancing technology for the new hospital, which is planned to be inaugurated by the end of 2015. The construction is designed on the same site of the previous hospital, whose structure was inadequate to meet the safe standards of earthquake. Zuckberg's wife Chan is a pediatric resident at UCSF and has also worked alongside doctors for a few years at San Francisco General. It is meant that currently this hospital is the only trauma center in the city. Later, Chan confessed that she always witness the compassion and dedication of her colleagues towards providing the best available care to all the faithful patients’ tirelessly. She considers herself to be proud enough for providing strength to an ambient public hospital.
