The two most valuable tech companies - Apple and Google locked horns once again, this time over a silly mistake from Google's end. Google's map service, Google Maps showed a patch of terrain, south of the Pakistani city of Rawalpindi with an Android robot urinating on the Apple logo. This has instigated a fresh round of face-off between the tech giants. The image has gone viral on the internet and Google has taken it down now. Google said that the mistake happened when an user used the Google Map Maker tool to add contents to Google Maps. Usually, contents added to Google Maps go through moderation but this has been a costly slip. The red-face for Google doesn't end here. A few kilometers to the east, there was yet another 'art' by an user which targeted Google's review policy. It had a statement which read, "Google's review policy is crap". A spokesperson from Google said, "The vast majority of users who edit our maps provide great contributions. We're sorry for this inappropriate user-created content. We also learn from these issues, and we're constantly improving how we detect, prevent and handle bad edits." The images, though funny, haven't gone down well with Apple. The Cupertino giant, however, has remained silent on the issue. One can't help but think Apple is playing 'the calm before the storm' tactic. Google better be on their toes!
