At the Spring Forward Event last month, Apple lifted the wraps off an entirely redesigned laptop dubbed as just the Macbook. With only a single USB-C port for all kinds of wired connectivity options, Apple’s latest offering caters to a very niche market and the pricing just strengthens it even more.
Apple has gone ahead and revealed the prices of the 1.3 GHz Macbook variant. With a device that small, the only additional upgrade option that Apple provides is a speed bump to 1.3 GHz processor.
The entry-level new Macbook comes with a 1.1GHz Intel Core M CPU, 8GB of memory and a 256GB SSD with an option to opt for the 1.3 GHz CPU. The base price stands at $1299 and a hefty $250 for the speed bump.
At the higher end, the stock $1599 model comes with a 1.2GHz CPU, the same 8GB of memory but a larger 512GB of storage. The additional 1.3GHz CPU option adds $150 to that machine’s price.
All in all, there are four options available for those who would give up power for portability:
- 1.1 GHz, 256 GB SSD ($1299)
- 1.3 GHz, 256 GB SSD ($1549)
- 1.2 GHz, 512 GB SSD ($1599)
- 1.3 GHz, 512 GB SSD ($1749)
The new Macbook Pro 13 wins by a big margin when it comes to performance but the new 12″ Macbook looks damn cooler and in Tim’s own words, you “can’t even feel it.”
