This is the effect Apple has on people. Their fabled Apple Watch is still under the wraps but it has all developers wrapped around itself. The well known 8-bit style real-time simulation game developer, NimbleBit, announced today that their upcoming game will be the first game to hit the Apple Watch's App Store. According to a report by TouchArcade, NimbleBit, was looking for beta testers for its upcoming project, LetterPad. The game is a simple word game in which the players get a 3x3 grid of letters that prompt you to create a word relating to a particular topic. The developers also showed a rendering in which they have elaborated on how the game will utilize the miniature screens of the Apple Watch. For those who are late to the party, Apple Watch is coming in two distinct screen sizes, with a large 42mm and a slightly smaller 38mm screen. For more, read my coverage of the Apple Watch, here. As we can see in the illustration, the game takes full advantage of the.. umm.. well.. screen estate. Apple has been pretty secretive about the in-house S1 chip that lies at the heart of the Apple Watch. It will be interesting to see how the developer(s) manage to keep the game(s) low profile and not hog the limited resources. There is no word yet on the battery life, but we'll know for sure this February as Apple is reportedly holding a special event on 21st!
