I don’t want to be predictive about our next acquisition but I will say we feel pretty good about the content we have, which includes the Star Wars Universe and Disney itself. I think distribution is an area wouldn’t be surprised to see us do something more.Rasulo hinted that a social media startup would definitely be considered as distribution. He neither confirmed or denied the buzz about Disney's alleged plans to acquire BuzzFeed. Rumors were afloat last year that Disney was planning to acquire BuzzFeed but they had asked for $1B and the deal fell apart. Another area to consider is whether Disney would acquire a distribution network. Media companies are still heavily relying on third party outsourcing for their needs. Disney itself relies on YouTube for Maker, also cinemas and that ecosystem for films; broadcasters for TV content etc. It will be interesting to see what finally ends up in Disney's shopping basket this year!
In a Medialink keynote panel at CES in Las Vegas, Disney's Jay Rasulo, the senior EVP and CFO, said that the company is looking forward to improve its digital distribution and marketing following its Maker Studios acqusition last year.
