So you bought your new iPhone 6 or the 'bigger than bigger' iPhone 6 Plus, played around with it for a day before your realised that your favorite messaging app Whatsapp doesn't take advantage of the new resolution. Fret not, here's your solution.
Considering there’s no official timescale on when the Facebook/WhatsApp team will release the next version it’s likely that more impatient amongst us will want to get a head start with the new features and functionality contained within. Thankfully, it’s entirely possible to get the latest beta without much fuss, but like all good things in life this does come with a few potentially show-stopping requirements:
- You’ll need to have a jailbroken device with access to Cydia.
- You will need to be prepared to install an "unofficial" version of the app.
- As unlikely as it may be, you should be prepared to lose your conversation history within WhatsApp if anything goes wrong with the installation.
Step 1: First of all you will need to launch Cydia on the device and install AppSync Unified Beta from the developer’s repository. If you don’t have this repository added then you will need to add a custom repo with the following address: http://cydia.angelxwind.net
Step 2: After downloading and installing AppSync Unified Beta, reboot the device.
Step 3: When the device has been rebooted, open Mobile Safari and navigate to the following address: https://dev2.whatsapp.net/ios/WhatsApp/
Step 4: Tap on the Install WhatsApp Beta link at the top of the page.
Step 5: When the download and installation has finished you should be able to launch WhatsApp as usual from the device’s home screen.
