I’m pretty sure every one of us knows about hike and has used it. It is an amazing messaging app tailored specifically for Indian customers with their oft used stickers. Yet, there are some of us who would wish for something more. Maybe privacy? Well, Hike has already fulfilled that wish, what with their hidden mode. What more could we want, Voice calling? Yes! Hike has heard our wishes and taken the first step to fulfill them. Hike has announced its first acquisition, a US-based voice calling company, Zip phone. Zip phone, founded by an Indian entrepreneur Anuj Jain, allows users to make secure and free phone calls over the internet. This means that we won't have to use up our talktime or incur roaming charges. "Zip Phone's technology will allow us to bring free voice calling to the market much faster. Incidentally, this is one of the top requested features from our users as well," Kavin Bharti Mittal, founder and CEO, hike messenger, said in a statement. (via Economic Times). Hike claims to currently have over 35 million users, with 90 percent residing in India. While 35 million is not a number to be sneezed at, when this new service become active we can safely say that Hike will see a lot more users in their future.
