8th March is observed as International Women's Day all over the world. The earliest event regarding Women's Day dates back to 1900's when a group of female workers went on a strike in the America and demanded respect and appreciation from their male colleagues. Since that day March 8 of every year is celebrated as a day to celebrate womanhood and the tradition of respecting woman and giving them equal rights. But, lately Women's Day has lost its actual meaning and turned into an event to express the love for women like Mother's Day or Father's Day. Organizations and restaurants have started organizing events to celebrate womanhood by providing lucrative deals for women to attract the females. Women's Day is more than celebrating Womanhood it is a movement, a reminder about women's achievements and how they deserve equal rights and equal status in the society. But contrary to that, it is merely seen as a celebration and people forget about remembering that Women are equal no matter what field they are in. The Women's Day was celebrated to remind people of what girl power is and to bring to notice about the current situation pof women in different countries and finding ways to tackle that. The theme of this year's Women's Day according to UN is "Empowering Women, Empowering Humanity: Picture it!". The International Woman’s Day theme for 2015 is ‘Make It Happen’ with a dedicated hashtag for social media.
