The second generation of the budget smartphone, Moto E will launch today in India for Rs 6,999 available only at Flipkart. Motorola has announced that there will be two variants of Moto E (2nd Gen) - a 3G unlocked variant priced at Rs 6,999 and a 4G LTE version yet to be priced (expected at Rs 8,500). The company, taken over by Lenovo from Google, last year, has shown phenomenal growth since changing hands. Motorola handsets sold more than 10 million units in the third quarter of 2014, making a new company sales record. The handsets driving the sales were Moto X, Moto G and Moto E. Adjudged the best budget smartphone of 2014 by users and critics alike, Moto E has taken a new avatar with its second generation outing. The device, designed to take away the minor glitches of its predecessor, also solves the major problem that the first generation Moto E has - a missing front camera. The new Moto E offers a not-much-to-cheer-about but nevertheless a working VGA front camera. The 5mp rear camera remains untouched. Powering the 3G version of Moto E (2nd Gen) will be a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 32-bit processor and a 400MHz Adreno 302 GPU. Meanwhile, the 4G LTE version will have a 1.2GHz quad-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor and a 400MHz Adreno 306 GPU. Both devices will have 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Also, there is an option for a 16GB model and one can always expand the storage to 32GB via microSD card slot. Moto E (2nd Gen) will be launched in 5 colors - Golden Yellow, Charcoal, Turquoise, Blue and Raspberry. There are also new covers designed for the new Moto E which are called 'Bands'. These so-called 'Bands' come in 6 colors - Golden Yellow, Turquoise, Blue, Raspberry, Purple and Red. The second generation offering of Moto E will certainly be irresistible, with all the punch it packs in a package. If you are looking for an absolutely mind-blowing experience from a budget smartphone, be ready to grab this beauty. A word of caution though - the early bird gets the worm!
