Motorola today announced the much-anticipated successor(s) to its G series lineup in the form of Moto G4 and G4 Plus. The smartphones will be available exclusively on Flipkart starting midnight tonight. After the overwhelming response to the Moto G 2015 (crowned the king of budget smartphones), an updated variant of the same was a no brainer. Looks like the rumors were all true. Moto has come up with not one, but two new budget offerings. The Moto G4 Plus comes with a 5.5" 1080p display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The grunt is provided by a 1.2GHz Octa-Core 64-bit Snapdragon 617 processor with Adreno 405 GPU. The device comes in two variants, a 2GB RAM + 16GB internal storage option and one with 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage. The G4 Plus sports a microSD card slot that can hold up to 128GB cards. The G4 Plus sports a heavily upgraded 16MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) with a dedicated professional mode which gives user control over aperture and shutter settings. For the selfie lovers, the G4 Plus has a 5MP f/2.2 front-facing camera with an 84-degree wide field of view. The device is powered by a 3000mAh battery that Moto promises will deliver up to 24 hours of mixed usage. Unlike earlier models, a TurboCharger is bundled with the Moto G4 Plus, and is said to provide 6 hours worth of charge in 15 minutes making it a very desirous feature. The Moto G4 on the other hand has the exact same specs sans the fingerprint sensor and no 3GB+32GB combo model. The camera is also only 13MP compared to the G4 Plus's 16MP shooter. Both the handsets run on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 and sport a 'dual-SIM with intelligent calling' functionality that allows users to assign contacts to a SIM card, enabling them to switch between two call plans for business and home. The smartphones are dual SIM but support 4G only in a single slot while the other slot is 3G. The Moto G4 will launch next month while the G4 Plus is now available on Flipkart. The 2GB+16GB variant comes at Rs. 13,499/- while the 3GB+32GB combo is worth Rs. 14,999/- making it a pretty serious mid-range smartphone. What do you think of the Moto G4 Plus?
