Android and iOS, along with other minions like Blackberry OS, Mozilla OS, are no strangers to us. The thing common to all these is their roots and owners are all based in Uncle Sam’s kitty, a thing that Mother Russia has expressed it’s displeasure for.
Russian government is ready to shell out money for devs who will migrate to minions Samsung backed Tizan and SailFish OS, founded by ex-Nokia employees.
As reported by TechCrunch earlier, Russia’s Minister of Mass Communication, Mr. Nikolai Nikiforov, tweeted from a conference, expressing his concerns over US dominating the mobile ecosystem. He further said that Android, though being open sourced, is too much tightly controlled by Google.
Though Nikiforov didn’t make any comments on exactly what the modus operandi to make more developers migrate to the aforementioned platforms would be achieved, it is speculated that Russia has also expressed concern about closed sourced software operating in Russian cyberspace, especially after the mother of all leaks by Edward Snowden last year.
