The OnePlus 3 is finally here in flesh.
What was perhaps one of the most anticipated phones of the year, was marred down by huge leaks via Amazon India and other sources hours before the launch. Everyone knew exactly what OnePlus had in store.
“We know that the best smartphone is the one that works exactly how you want it to,” said OnePlus Founder and CEO Pete Lau. “The OnePlus 3 delivers that experience. It combines what our customers already love about our products with what they want and expect next. For example, Dash Charge sets a new standard for fast charging technology. It’s a flagship smartphone inspired by – and made for – our fans.”
The OnePlus 3 comes with a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED Full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on top for improved protection. The grunt is provided by the Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor coupled with Adreno 530 GPU and 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM. Like the OnePlus 2, it also has 64GB of internal storage with no micro SD slot for storage expansion.
The OnePlus 3 borrows heavily from HTC One lineup in terms of design. The smooth metal back with curved edges and antenna lines are reminiscent of HTC and Huawei smartphones. A physical home button with a fingerprint sensor sits underneath the display. It runs on latest Android 6.1 Marshmallow. It comes with a 16MP Sony IMX298 sensor on the rear with OIS, PDAF and f/2.0 aperture. It can record 4K videos at 30fps and HD slow motion at 120fps. The front camera is an 8MP sensor with 1.4um pixel size and f/2.0 aperture.
The entire package is powered by a 3000mAh non-removable battery which comes with OnePlus’s own fast charging technology dubbed as Dash Charge. The box contents include a 5V/2A adapter. With this new Dash Charge technology, the device can be charged from 0% to 60% in just 30 minutes and the optimized power adapter also controls the device from overheating.
The device comes in Graphite and Soft Gold color options, but as of now only the Graphite color will be in stock. It is priced very competitively at Rs. 27,999 in India (the Xiaomi Mi 5 and the Nexus 5x being the major players) and is available via Amazon without the hassle of invites this year!
What's more is that OnePlus has bundled Saavn’s premium membership for 12 months worth Rs. 999 with every device. Idea is offering 12 months of double data and Amazon is offering Rs.500 credit on Kindle app with a validity of 12 months for purchasing ebooks. OnePlus is also offering a comprehensive 12 months accidental damage warranty for the handset.
