The successor to the insanely popular OnePlus One is due late this year according to OnePlus’ CEO Pete Lau. It will be dubbed as OnePlus Two and will be accompanied by a cheaper phone from the same company as well.
The company’s current flagship, the One, has sold over a million units so far and the gross sales are expected to go over 3 million with the release of OnePlus Two. With an expected release date this third quarter, the OnePlus Two will sport much higher specifications than the current generation flagship.
OnePlus, the brains behind the flagship killer is currently looking for venture capital funding and is in talks with several VC’s in Silicon Valley. In an interview at company headquarters in Shenzhen, China, CEO Pete Lau said:
We lack the experience to help us grow one step further, so we are actually in talks with VCs in the Valley. The most important part is access to experience and senior-level talent that will help us scale further.
Though he did not delve into any info about estimated company’s worth or the amount of funding that the company has as of now, the rate at which the company is going, it will be interesting to see Xiaomi and OnePlus battle it out for the market positions.
