The world's most loved entertainment, social networking service and news website, Reddit, has announced the introduction of RedditNotes, a method to give equity to the site’s readers using a lottery method. Reddit came into some recent funding in September and had promised to reserve a portion to give back to the community. After months of polls and votes on how this could have achieved, Reddit, has introduced a new initiative called as RedditNotes. Since the Reddit community is pretty large, the website plans to issue 950,000 Reddit notes to be distributed to random active accounts via lottery. The lottery is open only for accounts created before 30th September 2014 though. In a blog post, Reddit said that they are working out details on both the technological and legal aspects of the project, especially regarding how Reddit notes will work within existing government regulations. Meanwhile, users can submit their suggestions to the subreddit /r/redditnotes. They have also released this beautiful infographic that explains the RedditNotes system. What do you think of Reddit's new initiative? Let us know in the comments.
