At a media event held in New Delhi on Thursday, Samsung launched its Galaxy J3 aka Galaxy J3 (6) smartphone in India. The device sports a price tag of Rs. 8,990/- and will be available exclusively via Snapdeal starting today. The Galaxy J3 comes with a 5" 720p Super Amoled display which is a kind of nice addition given the vibrant colors and limited power consumption of an Amoled display. The grunt is provided by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1.5GB of RAM. Sadly, there is only 8GB of inbuilt storage but it can be expanded via microSD card (up to 128GB). Competitors like Coolpad Note 3 and Note 3 Lite both sport insane amounts of RAM and internal memory making them a very viable alternative. There is an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Given its size, the smartphone is a bit on the heavier side weighing in at 138 grams, but feels great in hand. The Galaxy J3 runs on Android 5.1.1 skinned with the proprietary TouchWiz on top. Powered by a 2600mAh battery, the dual sim smartphone also supports 4G along with all the standard connectivity options. The distinguishing feature of the Galaxy J3 is the 'S Bike Mode', which once enabled automatically replies to calls with pre-recorded messages in up to 14 languages. This gives a huge advantage to commuters that use two wheelers and miss important calls or are distracted by unwanted calls while they ride. One can also mark a few contacts as important, so that they can be notified even while riding. With the competition to be the sub 10k king heating up, where fo you think the Galaxy J3 will end up?
