In an attempt to expand its Noida plant, set up under the Uttar Pradesh Mega Policy, Samsung India has invested an enormous amount of Rs. 517CR. Following this special announcement, Spice Group has also announced an equal investment of Rs 500 crore to set up a manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh. An online monitoring system has been adjusted to monitor the progress in the area on a real-time basis, in order to be compatible with the Global Quality Standards according to Samsung. Samsung has proposed the overall reforms to be done with investment, include a modern training facility spread over 35,000 square feet within its manufacturing premises - in order to concentrate on capability building and skill enhancement of its specific employees. The company said it is determined to strengthen the infrastructure involved in manufacturing to compensate with the elaborate domestic demands for mobile handsets. Samsung's latest Tizen phone, Z1, is planned to be manufactured at the Noida facility with almost every phone's software being developed at the Noida Research Centre. According to President & CEO, Samsung India Electronics ,Hyun Chil Hong "Uttar Pradesh is one of the most important states for Samsung and the expansion of the Noida Mobile unit will further strengthen our presence in the country and enhance our manufacturing operations and to focus on providing more job opportunities." Spice Group is also a leading participant, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of Uttar Pradesh for setting up the manufacturing unit in the state itself. The company is planning out a strategy at the manufacturing unit by introducing affordable mobile internet devices in India. The government of UP will support and provide sufficient facilities to the Spice Group in a time bound manner with amiable infrastructure, a peaceful environment and particular incentives being added under various schemes with proper assistance of central government.
