A pretty amazing concept of social online betting has been observed with the launch of Youbetme. The startup has managed to raise $2.7M in Series A Funding.
Accordin to the founder, Jason Neubeaur:
It’s been awesome. Within the first 90 days we broke over 100,000 downloads and hit as high as number five in the app store charts in the US.
The app was launched in January and advertises itself as a way to “bet on anything, at any time,” either through its iOS app or it’s website. Before this post gets flagged as illegal, just to be clear, it doesn’t support real-money betting, but rather tracking friendly bets with friends. Remember the whacky ones in college? That odd bucks you never paid. Think of this as the same!
Turning any event into a wager-able moment, the app makes it easy to choose a bet type—custom, sports or live Vegas odds—set terms and make losers pay up. Bet on games, who will get booted from The Voice or whether or not your friend can snag a number at the bar! Keep stakes private or share ‘em with your ninety-bazillion Facebook friends. This app surely deserves the funding!
Investors in the round included SierraMaya360, DVG, and Abingdon Capital. Angel investor Brad Stroh is joining the Youbetme board of directors.
Youbetme also has an Android App beta testing.
