At the Midem music industry conference in Cannes yesterday, Sony Music CEO, Doug Morris confirmed that Apple is indeed launching its music streaming service tomorrow at the annual WWDC.
The shocking revelation confirms the long-standing rumors of Apple launching their own music streaming service. Ever since Apple’s acquisition of Beats electronics last year, there have been rumors of Apple re-branding Beats streaming services.
According to a report from VentureBeat, Morris said, “It’s happening tomorrow.” Not only this, the industry veteran also shared his insight into the matter ans was quoted saying that Apple’s revitalized foray into the streaming world signifies a “tipping point” that will return the music industry to its former economic glory.
Spotify has never really advertised because it’s still not profitable. I think that Apple will advertise and the result of this will have halo effect on the entire streaming service
He also added that the Cupertino Giant is still to sign the deal with his company and many others. “This won’t affect the launch though.”
