NASA has released a stack of 4 clear images of the jelly shaped Pluto’s moon, Nix. The photographs were taken by NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft on July 14th with the Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI), the probe’s high-resolution imaging instrument.
The photographs reveal that the moon’s edges are rougher than anticipated and is more in the shape of a football. There also is a huge cater on the surface. The moon is largely gray in color but there is a hint of a reddish hue on the surface!
Not much was known about any of Pluto’s moons unitl NASA’s spacecraft photographed two of them despite being a hundred thousand miles away from either of them. Pluto has five moons altogether and according to sources, we may get a peek at Styx and Kerberos, two of the other moons, sometime late October.
