The 2015 Budget may be the best one yet for long term plans but has increased the prices of imported handsets and tablets in India. The increase in price has been acknowledged by Apple retailers all across the country which means that iPhone in India just got a whole lot costlier! The news of the recent price hike was first spotted on Fonearena which also shared the prices for all the popular phones. Also, a report by Times Of India has independently verified the hike through Apple’s retail channel partners who confirmed it. The price tag for the iPhone 6 16GB earlier was Rs 53,500 which is now Rs 56,000. The iPhone 6 64GB and iPhone 6 128GB will now cost Rs 65,000 and Rs 74,000 respectively. Likewise, the 16GB iPhone 6 Plus will now cost Rs 65,000, with the 64GB and 128GB variants costing Rs 74,000 and Rs 83,000 respectively. If you had plans to buy the handsets this month, we suggest you get them from the US or from Hong Kong where the prices are still within one's reach. If the price rate does continue, it will be safe to assume that Apple's latest flagships will cost an arm or a kidney. The older iPhone models have received a price cut. The iPhone 5S 16GB is now priced at Rs 47,000 and the iPhone 5S 32GB is priced at Rs 51,500.
