Twitter has just brought a new functionality, essentially a filter to help prevent the users from getting anonymous hate messages, abuses or any other kind of troll. This is done by controlling the notifications received on the basis of the interaction level between the user and that follower. This 'Quality Filter' can be considered as an addition to Twitter's 'Tailored notifications' spec, which was previously provided to the verified users and to the people having lots of followers and a high level of online-activities and interactions. The Quality filter will also be able to detect abusive and threatening tweets and messages and remove it directly from your timeline. Currently, this filter is limited to the verified users on iOS devices only but may soon be available for Android. It is not clear yet whether this setting will be available to all users or not. Twitter users are very vulnerable to such trolls because of the site's massive use and spread and so it is very necessary for twitter to make its users feel safe and comfortable. Twitter has already launched many anti-harassment features, especially for its mobile app. Moreover, it has already introduced many reporting tools that can detect tweets and report it directly to the authorities if it contains any sort of 'undesirable' content. Though it has many protective tools for its user's safety, it is still not sufficient and effective enough to uproot all the bullying, trolls and online threats but this new 'Quality Filter' does give hope and has the potential to cease such unwanted activities at least to an extent.
