Looks like Christmas has come early for Windows users. The latest build of the Windows 10 Technical Preview, build 9901, has been leaked. The build 9901 comes with a hoard of new features and improvements.
If you’ve been waiting to use Cortana on your Windows device, you won’t need to anymore. PCPortal has just leaked the Windows 10 Build 9901 which comes with a bunch of new UI improvements and Cortana.
Microsoft recently announced that it will not be issuing out new builds until January, but looks like we won’t have to wait any longer. With Build 9901, you can finally try out Cortana on your Windows PC. The personal assistant isn’t pretty on the build yet, however. Fortunately, most of the features on Cortana seems to work with the build. Microsoft has also included hot-word detection for Cortana on Windows 10 — meaning that you can open Cortana just by saying “Hey Cortana”.
The new build also comes with a re-designed Store app. The store app has been updated with a brand-new design which looks much cleaner and beautiful. There is also a redesigned Calculator app on board. That’s not all – there is a new Welcome screen as well as some new wallpapers.
The build also comes with a new Xbox App, Getting Started and a Remind Me app. The company has also included some new animations for the TaskView and a redesigned taskbar. Here is the compilation of the screenshots of all the changes. (the images are from PCPortal as we have put the new build on download. We’ll be back with the updates!)
Windows 10 Build 9901 ISO is a 3.8 GB file. This is not yet official so you have nowhere to go if you get stuck. We won’t recommend you to try this on your daily use PC. Microsoft has already announced a press event scheduled for January 21 where the future of Windows 10 will be discussed.
