Apple’s Best of 2014 list includes some well known artists as well as some cool new apps. The list is curated from all of Apple’s digital platforms including apps, music, movies, books, podcasts and more.
Apple’s digital marketplace has grown a lot in the past decade. Back when the App Store was announced there were a handful of apps only. As of February 10, 2012, there are at least 1,100,000+ third-party apps officially available on the App Store. As of the end of 2013, App Store users spent over $10 billion in 2013, users downloaded almost three billion apps in December 2013 making it the most successful month in App Store history, and App Store developers have earned over $15 billion since the inception of the App Store.
The iTunes store has been the largest music vendor in the United States since April 2008. The iTunes Store possesses nearly 575 million active user accounts making Apple a major player in digital media distribution.
