Hansaplast, the trusted plaster brand of Beiersdorf, has launched their new and exciting range of wash proof and antiseptic designer plasters targeted at kids. Dubbed as Hansaplast Junior, the new range of band aids have been researched and designed in collaboration with WOW Design, a brand consultancy service based in Mumbai.
A band aid is an essential part of every household’s first aid kit. We never give a second glance at it, but for kids, sporting an injury is an achievement. WOW Design wanted to make the process of healing “fun and engaging!” When it came to think of a design solution, the core thought was to offer the kids a combo of fun and courage to keep going. The competent nature of today’s kids, their aspirations and daily activities played a pivotal role in building up the “Never give up” spirit in terms of branding and its variation.
Wow Design introduced four variant names & colours, each depicting its own personality trait. The story on each pack is tactfully weaved in the product and certain elements are highlighted via a 3D extrusion.
· Red for bravery, was termed ‘Daredevil’
· Green for a kid’s style quotient ,was named ‘Style O’
· Yellow for a kid’s artistic capabilities, was named ‘Doodle’
· Blue illustrates the fascination through the name-‘Wow.’
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Chinmay S Dash, DGM –Sales & Marketing, Hansaplast, praised the WOW Design team and appreciated their efforts in understanding the minds and behavior of the children. He also pointed out that the team did come up with ground breaking design concepts which fully met the company’s requirements of provoking an impulsive purchase.
Mr. Saswata Das, Co-Founder & Director, WOW Design said, “The challenge that we faced was that the category was already matured enough to expect any innovation. To top that, we were battling against enumerable market leaders which were doing quite well in market. While a plaster is an important part of any household first-aid kit, the usage is very need based. That’s when we thought Why not make the process of healing interesting, fun-filled and interactive? Hence, this eventually led to funky HP junior plasters, attractive visuals, eye-catching colours, etc”
