Perhaps the best budget smartphone of 2014, the time has come for Xiaomi to launch a successor for the insanely popular Redmi 1s. A surprising leak, thanks to China's Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center, shows off what just might be the next Redmi 1s. A brand new 4.7" smartphone has just been approved China's TECC that is nearly identical to the existing Redmi 1s. The new handset has some changes, like redesigned capacitive keys under the display and the repositioned LED flash and speaker grill. This may not be Xiaomi at all but the stark similarity clears all doubts almost instantly. According to the certification reports, the handset weighs a mere 132 grams and is 9.2 mm thick which means it will be lighter than the original Redmi 1S. It will run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and will also feature a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. LTE connectivity, 2MP front-facing camera, 8MP rear camera, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of expandable internal memory are the other features. The smartphone will be powered by a 1.2GHz processor with no word on the SoC manufacturer. The new handset will be available in a number of colour variants including black, white, red, orange, yellow, green, purple, and blue. There is no information as on when the smartphone will hit the Indian shores and with Xiaomi facing a ban in India, it seems very unlikely that it will be coming anytime soon.
