Youtube has decided to launch a dedicated app just for kids. It will be called Youtube for Kids. This launch will be the first in a series of Google services that will cater to an audience of age 12 years or less. The famous video sharing site, Youtube,, is right now for audiences of age 13 or above. While it is filled to brim with amazing videos, it is not difficult to find videos that are certainly not age appropriate. Also, the comments section below the videos are also something that a parent will hesitate to let their children see. Thus, this app is a sigh of relief for parents who know the benefits of internet but are still hesitant to let their kids use it. To make it more kid-friendly, the Google team has completely removed the comments section from Youtube for Kids. Also, as opposed to a large no. of category choices in Youtube, Youtube for Kids will have just have four categories: Educational,TV Shows, Music and Exploring top videos. Also, where in Youtube you might find amazing videos for kids, but they are sometimes interrupted with advertisements that are not age appropriate. To prevent a situation like this from happening, the Youtube Policy team will be carefully screening the advertisements which will be allowed to be put up on the app. This app will also have parental controls. Parents will be able to set timer for the app so that it doesn't become a time sink (you know what I'm taking about). This will ensure that the children do not spend their full free time on youtube, but still do other activities. Also, the Youtube for Kids app will not require a google account. Hence, google will not be able to collect information about kids without the parents' permission.
